An Ordinance to amend
The Summary Offences Ordinance, 1845.

Under the provisions of Section 13 of The Summary Offences
Ordinance, 1845 the ́making of disturbing noises at night within
the town of Victoria or its vicinity was prohibited.
The object of this Ordinance is to enable these provisions
to be extended to other areas in the Colony which are now cen-
tres of population and in which it is dèsirable that the pro-
visions of the law should also bë operative.

By Section 2 of the Ordinance the provisions of Section
Summary Offences Ordinance 1845 are fepealed and new provisions
are substituted by which it is provided that in such districts
as the
Governor-in-Council may direct by Notification in the
Gazette, no person shall at night make any noise calculated to
disturb or interfere with the publié or to annoy any person.
Contravention of the provisions of the Section is punishable by
Sub-section 2 of Section 2 ́bý a "Fine not exceeding $100 or by
imprisonment not exceeding Three months in default of payment.
In my opinion this” is an Ordinance ́ to which His Excellency the
Governor may properly assent in the name of His Majesty and on
His behalf.
